FACTORY

Location

The plant lies in Zarqa Area, 20km from the capital Amman, 50km away from our own quarry in Al-Azraq Area.

Area

The plant area is 50000m2, out of it 6000m2 area is occupied by the plant construction, the remaining area is for raw materials “Basalt Rock” and services.

Furnaces

The plant contains four melting furnaces with a production capacity, 5 Tons/day for each Usually three furnaces used to be under production and the fourth is as standby.

Production lines

The plant contains three production lines, the 1st line is to produce panels “Slabs” & Felt “Resinated rolls” The second and the third lines are to produce Quilted Mattresses “Un resinated Rolls” and loose rock wool. Separate section was added to produce preformed pipe sections.

Production Capacity

The production capacity of the plant is 5000 tons/year.

Raw Material

The volcanic rock “Basalt” is used as a raw material to produce Rock Wool products. Basalt is brought from the company quarry after crushing and sieving to get the suitable size to feed the melting furnaces, Other Basalt aggregates sizes are separated to be used in construction.

Jordan Rock Wool Ind. Co. Quarry

The Jordan Rock Wool Co. Quarry lies in Qa’a Hanna Area, about 70 Km northeast Amman with an Area about 200000 m. where Basalt Rocks are extracted from underlay bedding to get the suitable raw materials for rock wool manufacturing and also to get solid and well compacted basalt rock to be used for constructions.

Mining and crushing are done in the quarry to get aggregates. Big boulders are taken to the cutting & polishing machine to get build and stone, boulders are taken to the cutting & polishing machine to get build and stone, wall panels and floors tiles.

Hazardous Substances

Free Silica:
JRW is free from free silica which cause silicosis

Asbestose Tracing:
Free from asbestos due to its volcahic origin

Radio Activity substances:
• JRW is clean from Anthropogenic radioactivity
• There are no National derived limits (NDLs)
• Minimum Detectable concentration (MDC)
• Outside the scope of (UKAS) accreditation

Pherol formaldehyde polymer:
Phenol formaldehyde which is used as a binging material in resinated types of rock wool is harmful if swallowed, or inhaled or in contact with the skin
Toxicity is none after polymerizing

Exposure control & personal protection

The components of Rock wool are primarily mineral, wool fiver. During application or where dusty conditions exit, mineral wool fiber may cause transitory mechanical irritation to skin or respiratory tract.

Inhalation:
The sensitivity to the airborne particle and mineral wool dust may cause temporary physical irritation to the nose, throat & breathing passage.

Respiration protection:
A disposable mask designed for nuisance type dust should be used to protect the respiration system from its effect.
Move to fresh air and drink water.

Skin Contact:
Rock Wool dust also may cause temporary irritation to the skin
Allergic reaction might be experienced by people who are exceptionally sensitive to phenol formaldehyde “resin” Clean with cold water then warm water and soap.

Protection:
Wear suitable gloves and choose clothes for best comfort
Selves, loose fitting cloths) when handling and installing material.

Eye contact:
Eyes also can be effected and suffered form irritation if the fibers entered them Flush with large quantities of water
Contact physician if irritation persists.

Protection:
Goggles are recommended to be used when installing material especially overhead.

Fire fighting measures

Combustibility:

  • Rock wool material is incombustible due to inorganic (mineral) origin & withstand high temperatures.

  • Rock wool products which are applied for high temperatures are faced with incombustible facing material ( Galvanized or Stainless Steel wire mesh)

Extinguishing media:
Water, Foam, Carbon dioxide, or Dry powder

Toxicological information

Carcinogenicity:
Rock wool products of Basaltic origin are non carcinogenetic material due to:

  • Absence of asbestos tracing due to its volcanic origin

  • Rock wool fibers are long enough to minimize the possibility of flying in air and entering the Respiratory system of human bodies.

Respiratory deseases:
Rock wool is free from free Silica, which causes via its inhalation a wide spectrum of Respiratory desease named Silicosis.

Stability & Reactivity

Rock wool is chemically inert and withstand high temperature & severe conditions therefore it is non reactive & stable.

Thermal decomposition occur to the organic mater (Binding materials) for resinated products, as for non resinated products no thermal decomposition occure “Slabs” & Felt “Resinated rolls’ the second and the third lines are to produce Quilted Mattresses “Un Resinated Rolls” and loose rock wool. Separate section was added to produce preformed pipe sections.

Production Capacity
The production capacity of the plant is 5000 tons / year.

Corrosivness

The presence of Sulphate & Leachable Chloride in Jordan Rock wool is within the acceptable limit, and the (PH) value is moderate, therefore JRW is non corrosive. The Sulphate & Leachable Chloride may precipitate in the insulation material and on the insulated surface from handling and from gases & vapours present in the surrounding atmosphere. Therefore precautions should be considered during storage and installation.

Handling & Storage

Handling:

  • Glove, goggles, masks, clothes with long sleeves should be used

  • Unpack the material at site directly before application

  • Spray with water before sweeping & when removing the material during maintenance.

  • Keep the working area clean

Storage:

  • Keep the material in closed original packing until be used to protect the material from precipitation.

  • Store the material in dry place, moderate temperature & good ventilation to protect it from undesirable chemical precipitation

Disposal consideration

Material scrap can be deposited in landfill waste site
Rock wool of volcanic origin (Basalt Rock) can be recycled to produce special Bricks & Tiles
